The Fat Squirrel Ice Cream & Eatery at 1302 West Pitt Street, Jennerstown, Pennsylvania.

A very cool eclectic place. Great flavors from a chef/owner who knows what she is doing. Awesome wait staff. Friendly and knowledgeable. They have only been open for 3 weeks and we had heard it was good. We heard right! A bit of a shock when we pulled into a icecream stand. Where's the restaurant? Its around the left side. Parking may be a issue on a warm summer night when the icecream is booming. Odd decor, a mixed collection of grandma's dishes and novelty salt and pepper shakers. Unicorn ceramic head on the wall, cloud light covers over the 4' in ceiling florescent lights. All give a fun vibe with a little bohemian feel. Sandwiches , snacks, and large plates are your options. Also fresh made pies and cakes. Many icecream options also. A small but intriguing menu. Our party of 6 all enjoyed our food with a smoked meatloaf on Mac n cheese waffles with bacon gravy, a Rachel with salmon, a catfish with fried green tomatoes a sample of options. All with creative and delicious ingredients. My favorite was the pimento cheese and bacon jam dip. Give this chef a chance I don't think you will be sorry. On top of your meal the staff and owner will be happy to listen to your opinions and share some stories of this cool little idea of a restaurant. Can't wait to try some of the other snacks/apps and to see if the chef takes my advice and sells that delicious bacon jam to go!!
